The Shack is a shared workspace designed to be flexible, respectful, and productive for everyone. By purchasing a membership, paying a deposit, or using the space, you agree to the following terms and conditions.
1. Access and Use
Access is limited to active members and approved guests.
Do not share access codes or keys with anyone who is not authorized.
Guests must be accompanied by a member at all times unless otherwise approved.
Use the space only for lawful, work-appropriate purposes.
Membership access, hours, and desk availability vary by membership type.
2. Workspace Conduct
Treat other members with respect and professionalism.
Keep noise at a reasonable level. Phone calls at your desk are allowed, but members should be considerate of others working nearby.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome. Owners must maintain control of their pets and clean up after them.
Keep common areas tidy. Clean up after yourself in the kitchen, restrooms, and all shared spaces.
Do not engage in disruptive, unsafe, illegal, or inappropriate behavior.
The Shack may suspend or terminate access for serious misconduct, illegal activity, threats to safety, intentional property damage, or repeated violations of these terms. Termination for misconduct does not eliminate any outstanding payment obligations.
3. Cleanliness and Shared Supplies
Shared kitchen items, including beers, sodas, snacks, and condiments, are available for everyone.
If you bring personal items, label them clearly with your name. Unlabeled items may be considered shared.
If you make coffee, brew a full pot using one scoop of coffee per cup of water.
Notify Matt if supplies are running low or equipment needs attention.
Members are responsible for leaving their workspace clean when they leave for the day.
4. Equipment and Property
Treat all furniture, fixtures, and equipment with care.
Report any damage immediately. Members may be responsible for the cost of repair or replacement when damage results from negligence, misuse, or the actions of their guests.
Do not remove property belonging to The Shack without prior approval.
Specific desk assignments are based on availability. The Shack may make reasonable changes to desk assignments when necessary for safety, repairs, maintenance, or workspace operations.
5. Internet and Technology
The WiFi network is provided for member use.
Do not engage in illegal downloads, harmful activity, unauthorized access, or anything that may compromise network security or disrupt service for other members.
The Shack does not guarantee uninterrupted internet access and is not responsible for losses resulting from temporary outages, service interruptions, or circumstances outside its reasonable control.
6. Guests
Guests are subject to these terms while using the space.
Members are responsible for the conduct of their guests and for any damage caused by them.
Guest passes are subject to workspace availability and any limitations associated with the member’s plan.
Complimentary guest passes may not be exchanged for cash or applied toward membership fees.
7. Payments and Billing
Membership fees are due according to the billing schedule associated with the selected plan.
Members are responsible for maintaining a valid payment method and paying all fees when due.
A late or unsuccessful payment may result in suspension of workspace access until the account is brought current. Suspension does not eliminate outstanding payment obligations.
Unless otherwise stated, membership fees and payments for periods already used are non-refundable.
8. Winter Fixed Desk Membership
The Winter Fixed Desk Membership is a six-month commitment running from December 1, 2026 through May 31, 2027.
The seasonal Fixed Desk rate is $300 per month, billed monthly.
Members may choose to activate their membership before December 1. Early-start members will begin paying the $300 monthly rate on their selected start date and will receive first choice of the desks available at that time.
Starting early does not change the May 31, 2027 end date unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Space and specific desk selections are subject to availability.
9. Winter Membership Deposit
A $99 deposit is required to reserve a Winter Fixed Desk Membership.
The deposit will be credited toward the member’s first monthly payment.
The deposit is non-refundable if the member decides not to begin the membership. If The Shack is unable to provide the reserved membership, the deposit will be refunded in full.
Payment of the deposit confirms the member’s agreement to the six-month commitment and these terms and conditions.
10. Early-Bird Guest Pass
Members who reserve by the applicable early-bird deadline will receive one complimentary guest day pass.
The guest pass is subject to workspace availability and must be used during the member’s active membership period.
The guest pass may not be exchanged for cash, transferred for resale, or applied toward membership fees.
11. Cancellation and Early Termination
The Winter Fixed Desk Membership is offered at a discounted rate in exchange for a six-month commitment.
A member who wishes to terminate the membership before May 31, 2027 must provide at least 30 days’ written notice.
The member remains responsible for all membership fees due during the 30-day notice period.
In addition, a member terminating early will be responsible for:
The difference between the $300 seasonal rate and the regular $350 monthly Fixed Desk rate for each month already used; and
One additional month at the $300 seasonal rate.
The Shack may waive some or all of the early-termination amount in the event of:
A documented relocation outside the Truckee-Tahoe area;
A serious medical hardship;
The Shack being unable to provide the workspace or access promised;
An approved replacement member assuming the membership; or
Another circumstance approved by The Shack in writing.
All termination requests must be submitted in writing by email to hi@peakdigitalstudio.com.
The 30-day notice period begins on the date written notice is received. Verbal notice, non-use of the space, or stopping payment does not constitute cancellation.
Cancellation requirements for memberships other than the Winter Fixed Desk Membership are governed by the terms associated with the selected membership plan.
12. End of the Seasonal Membership
The Winter Fixed Desk Membership ends on May 31, 2027 and will not automatically renew.
Members who wish to continue after May 31 may select an available membership at the pricing and terms then in effect.
Continued access after the seasonal term requires confirmation of a new or continuing membership.
13. Liability and Personal Property
Members use the workspace at their own risk.
The Shack is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property. Members should secure computers, equipment, and other valuables when they are not present.
Members are responsible for their own personal and business insurance, including coverage for equipment and property brought into the workspace.
To the extent permitted by law, The Shack is not responsible for indirect losses, business interruptions, lost income, or damages resulting from use of the workspace.
14. Changes to These Terms
The Shack may make reasonable updates to its general workspace rules and policies.
Any material change to the price, length, or payment obligations of an active fixed-term membership must be agreed to in writing.
Exceptions or changes to an individual member’s agreement must be approved by The Shack in writing.
